We Build People
What is the We Build People Campaign?
Our annual
scholarship campaign is the major fundraising campaign of the YMCA.
Funds raised help those who need it most by providing financial
assistance to youth, teens, families and other individuals and
ensures that no one is denied the opportunity to share in the
YMCA experience due to the inability to pay.
In 2010, we gave out over $850,000 in scholarships and naval
subsidies. This program provided over 900 scholarships.
Your
tax-deductible contribution to the YMCA Annual Scholarship Campaign
is a great investment in your community because it helps those who
need it most--potentially your family, friends, neighbors and
co-workers.
"There
is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting
people up."
- John Andrew
Holmes

Breakfast Bread
By
Jodie Fitz
1 Price Chopper wheat pizza dough
2
cups of turkey breakfast sausage or turkey bacon
3
Price Chopper eggs
1
cup fresh baby spinach, chopped finely (NuVal Score 100)
1/8
cup Price Chopper fat free milk
1
½ cups Price Chopper part skim mozzarella cheese, shredded
Remove
the casings on the turkey breakfast sausage and cook up, stirring
occasionally to keep the meat loose. If you are using turkey
bacon, cook it as directed and then cut into small pieces. Set
the meat aside.
Preheat
the oven to 375 degrees.
Roll
the dough out onto a floured surface. If you are using a stone
pizza round you can actually roll the dough directly on to the stone
surface. Set aside.
Using
a fork, whip the eggs and milk together. Cook them over medium
heat with Price Chopper non stick cooking spray scramble styled.
Add
a layer of meat onto the rolled dough surface, leaving a half cup to
the side. Then add a layer of eggs on top of the meat. Next
add a layer of ¾ cup of spinach and sprinkle one cup of the cheese on
top of the spinach. Fold in a third of the pizza toward the
center. Sprinkle the excess sausage, spinach and cheese on top of
the dough layer. Fold over the other third of pizza to create a
long rolled loaf. Pinch the dough across the top and at the ends
to seal the contents in side and help prevent the cheese from leaking.
Bake
for 30 minutes, until the crust is hard and golden brown.
Note:
This recipe is great to make on a Sunday and served warm at the
beginning of a busy week.
Homemade
dough:
1
¼ cups Price Chopper all-purpose flour
1
cup 50/50 wheat/white flour mixture
1
½ teaspoons Price Chopper sugar
¾
teaspoon salt
2/3
cup warm water
3
tablespoons Price Chopper olive oil
1
package pizza crust yeast
Simply
stir the yeast, warm water, sugar, salt and olive oil together.
Add in the flours and mix together with a spoon. Knead the dough
until smooth on a floured surface.

How to Keep
Your New Year's Resolutions
Create a food and
activity journal.
You don't need to write down calorie counts, you just need to get a
good handle on what's going into you body and when as well as what
you're doing each day to burn it off. Doing this will immediately will
make you more aware of yourself and your efforts.
Have clearly defined
goals.
Don't just say, "I want to lose weight" - put a number on it.
Don't just say you want to "get fit" - turn your goals into
specifics, rather than just nebulous ideas.
Set short-term and
long-term goals.
Often the worst opponent in the weight loss game is the sheer magnitude
of what lies in front of you. If you have 100 pounds to lose, don't
focus on the big number, focus on the first 10 pounds. Precise, small
goals make bigger goals attainable.
Be realistic with those
goals.
There's no use in setting yourself up for failure. You may want to lose
30 pounds in a month like the contestants on some weight loss
reality shows, but that's probably not going to happen on your
own. Give yourself the time to make it to your goal safely, rather than
rush it and end up injured or frustrated when results don't happen over
night.
Find someone to support
you.
This person could be a trainer or a nutritionist, but if that's out of
the question for you, at least try to get a regular workout partner or
someone with whom you can discuss your diet.
